Front-End Web Developer

We are looking for a Front-End Web Developer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Your primary responsibility will be to work with different business units and development teams to help bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation. You'll take an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

Our development teams are a mix of remote and in-office workers, operating around core hours of 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM EST with an average 40 hour work week. While working remotely is an option for candidates with 2+ years experience, others will have the opportunity after 9 months (pending manager approval).


DUTIES

- Develop new user-facing features
- Maintain a high quality standard across all visual platforms
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
- Produce style guidelines that other developers can follow
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders


QUALIFICATIONS

You must be exceptional with:

- Web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
- Server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
- Client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
- Distributed source code versioning tools using Git or Mercurial.
- Cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.

You must have a solid understanding of:

- ASP.NET (most of our applications are MVC .NET 4.5+)
- Asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
- Multiple javascript frameworks
- Image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Gimp or Photoshop is a plus.

Qualifications

- Must have 2+ years implementing web application front-ends
- Must have portfolio or ability to show previous work
- Must be willing to submit references from past employers
- Experience working with remote teams a plus.
- Experience as a web designer (producing visually appealing websites) a big plus.
