Collier's Reserve Country Club, located in Naples, Florida, is a private member owned Club in search of a Director of Finance to replace our current Director of Finance who is retiring in May 2020.

Position Overview:

The Director of Finance is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining all accounting records and related activities including payroll, budgets, statistical information, banking and insurance, tax compliance and service contracts for the Club. This position will assist with establishing and developing procedures and systems pertaining to financial matters including forecasts and analyzing the financial statements. 

The Director of Finance will evaluate operating results in terms of costs, budgets, policies, trends, and the statement of cash flows.  This individual will supervise the accounting department along with scheduling, training, and encouraging professional development of the team. 

The Director of Finance will also serve as a liaison to our Human Resource Representative and IT Consultants. 

The Director of Finance reports to the General Manager and works closely with the Club Treasurer, Club Finance Committee, Board of Directors and Staff Department Heads.

Primary Duties:

  • Directs financial operations of the Club
  • Formulates, receives, and recommends policy proposals for approval relating to accounting and auditing, the budget and cost control, preparation and payment of payrolls, tax matters, compilation of statistics and office methods and procedures when approved
  • Prepares monthly trial balance and resulting financial statements for the Club
  • Manages and conducts internal auditing programs to assure that records are accurately maintained and that established policies and practices are satisfactorily and consistently followed
  • Prepares financial forecasts in coordination with the various committees, departments, and General Manager; analyzes financial information, monitors budgeted versus actual expenditures and advises management about variances and their potential causes
  • Works with the Club's external auditors to assure that procedures and consistent with Club policies
  • Prepares and verifies reports made to agencies and trade and professional organizations for which dissemination is consistent with Club policies
  • Verifies the taking of various inventories for beverages, food, supplies, equipment, furnishings, etc.
  • Verifies that all insurance records for Club property are maintained
  • Serves as an ad-hoc member of appropriate club committees
  • Project a friendly, helpful attitude to all members and guests of the club

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor's degree from in accounting and finance.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting/finance or similar hospitality experience.
  • CPA and/or CHAE designation is preferred.

Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively in English before members and guests. Ability to perform basic accounting and math computations.  Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to organize and prioritize assigned projects. Must have computer and retail point-of-sale system knowledge.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Proficiency with Club Software programs such as NorthStar
  • Incredibly organized and detail-oriented
  • Broad knowledge of accounting principles
  • Able to prioritize multiple assignments
  • Ability to multi-task and change direction quickly
  • Must be flexible and able to quickly react to last minute changes
  • Strong scheduling and calendar prioritization skills

Ability to meet US employment eligibility requirements and company eligibility requirements.
